Different Ways of Learning to Skydive

So you have decided that you want to learn to skydive - fantastic! Except now you need to choose the training system you wish to follow. You have two different choices, the AFF (Accelerated FreeFall) course, or the Static line (also known as RAPS) system. Both methods have their pros and cons, and this article explains each system briefly. The best system for you depends on a few main factors, namely your time and financial restrictions.

What are the differences between the Static Line and the AFF course?

Throughout the world, the AFF and Static line systems are used by people who have decided that they would like to learn to skydive. Both methods are well established and have their own pluses and minuses.

The average number of jumps it takes to complete the static line system is about 30 - 50 parachute descents. This method of learning to skydive is the traditional way, and students jump on their own from their very first jump. Most people who learn to skydive using this method spread their learning time over a longer period, because of the number of jumps that are required to pass the course. However, despite taking longer in time, this does spread the financial costs too.

The AFF course requires a minimum of 8 skydives to graduate, and is a much more intensive training method. Students jump with instructors holding onto them in freefall, starting off with 2 instructors on levels 1, 2 and 3, then one instructor for subsequent levels. Once these AFF skydives are completed, the student then goes on to make 10 solo 'consolidation' jumps. These skydives are designed for the student to consolidate the knowledge and skills learnt throughout the AFF course.

This system is designed to be undertaken over a continuous space of time, and the training can be started and completed in as little as 2 days. Financially, this does mean that there is a larger initial outlay straight away.

How many students will be training alongside me in the Static line system?

You can be taught in a group of up to 12 students whilst learning to skydive under the static line system, university students are one of the main groups of people that favour the system for this. You go through an initial ground school before making your first parachute jump, and after this jump it is quick and easy to go through the brief for your next jump. You will probably share all of the briefs, training and debriefing with the rest of your group, so will therefore have minimal time with your instructor to focus on your own personal skills.

How many students will be training alongside me in with the AFF system?

The AFF method of training is best suited to a one on one instructor/student ratio. This is due to the shorter time period that the course is experienced over. On AFF levels 1, 2 and 3, you will be skydiving with two AFF instructors on each skydive. This makes sure that every student has the maximum teaching time and training from their AFF instructor, and therefore able to work on any difficulties you as a student may have. Before each AFF skydive you will undertake a detailed brief, going through the skydive with your instructor. After each skydive you will sit down with your AFF instructor for a detailed debrief. Every AFF skydive is filmed by your instructor, so you can watch the video of your skydive and see exactly what you are doing in freefall, focusing on any areas for improvement. This video is invaluable as a learning aid, and it is not uncommon for static line students to convert to the AFF system in order to solve problems such as turning in freefall, due to the insight and freefall teaching time that the AFF system offers.

Will by instructor be jumping with me on each skydive?

With the static line system, you start jumping at lower altitudes and your parachute is automatically deployed. As you progress through the system, the altitude and therefore freefall delay increase. As a result, the instruction you get focuses on your body position on exit, and your canopy control. Later on in the course, when you start having a freefall delay you will be deploying your own canopy, still jumping alone. You will be fully drilled and briefed on your emergency procedures, however you are on your own should something not go as planned.

Learning to skydive on the AFF system, you have your instructor jump with you and give you teaching whilst in freefall using hand signals. Your AFF instructor will only ever be an arms length away- allowing your instructor to assist you should you encounter any difficulties. As an AFF student, your instructor communicates with you to help you improve your body position whilst in freefall, allowing you to actually learn in the air. This is a big plus point, and is what makes the AFF course 'accelerated', for the reason that you receive in air tuition. Your instructor will be able to tailor the course to your specific requirements, and give you more freedom in freefall.

Should I go abroad to learn to skydive?

Weather. One of the advantages of learning to skydive using the Static line method is the lower altitude that you jump from in the earlier stages of the program. The first five parachute descents are made from 3,500 ft, so should there be cloud cover (as you may find in the UK), you may still be able to jump. As long as the cloud is above their exit altitude, static line students can still jump. AFF students need a minimum exit altitude of 9000ft to jump, so the cloud base must be above this height. The AFF course is designed to be completed over a continuous time period, so many AFF students complete the course abroad. Spain and Florida are popular destinations, and better weather means more skydives, less delays, and therefore less chance of needing to repeat any levels.

How To Skydive For Charity And Do It Well

Skydiving is well known from a long time for raising charity money as these kinds of adventurous sports always encourage peoples to donate money for the noble cause. Some events of skydiving are arranged to support cancer patients or other patients who can't raise money for their treatment.

Skydiving is a very adventurous and risky sport so many investors get ready to invest in these kinds of sports as they are always looking to spend money on events like this. Events like this are common now a days as most people like to try something new and exciting, these exciting skydiving is not so easy but there are several skydiving experts are available who tech skydiving in few hours.

Anyone who is planning to organize an event regarding skydiving for the purpose of charity then there are several websites who are taking the responsibility to help those persons who are really serious for this charity. Many organizations are also willing to invest in these kinds of charity skydiving events. Skydiving is a very famous sport so every one loves to watch the show and a better donation is expected from every viewer for the charity purpose.

There are two types of skydiving available for training and performing

Tandem skydiving - in this skydiving the person who is trying it for the first is attached to an expert and then they are allowed to fall freely from an airplane. The total control of the parachute is under the control of the expert and he/she decides the time to open the parachutes before reaching the ground resulting in a perfect landing.

Solo skydiving - this skydiving is very risky and the person is completely in charge and on his own. Training for this skydiving is very long and takes around weeks and parachute quality should be good. The risk involved in this solo skydiving is very much more than one can imagine so precautions must be taken before jumping.

The craze for sky diving is not only limited to the sportsmen, but also to the spectators. So an intelligent way to gain some money by charity is to organize a big event by involving some investors.

Many patients are suffering from cancer around the world and they need extra money every time they go for treatment so these events help those peoples who are suffering from severe diseases. Internet is another way by which one can search for related investors from all over the world so that events like this can be organized.

Many websites are organizing such events on their own responsibility and they are also looking for candidates those who are interested in charity skydiving, they help in getting investors, organizing the products and material needed for skydiving.

There are many charity options are available but skydiving is best among them as it makes more money than any other events. Generally the total amount which gets raised due to this skydiving event is around $5000 - $6000 and this is quite enough for the charity purpose. The major problem peoples face while arranging this event is because of investors, some investors don't like to invest on these kinds of events and this makes it quite tough to search for kind hearted sponsors who can invest some money on such events.

So if some one is really looking to raise some money for the charity purpose then he/she will first have to look for investors who can really support the entire event from starting to end. Skydiving is not a cheap sport it requires a good amount of money and special trained skydivers are also involved in these kinds of events to ensure maximum security to peoples who are dying to try skydiving.

How To Find The Best Skydive Lessons In The Garden State

There are some important considerations to make when you're choosing a skydiving center, especially if it's your first time making a jump. If you're skydiving New Jersey, though, you can rest assured that it'd be hard to make the wrong decision. That's because New Jersey parachuting

is some of the best on the East Coast. When you skydive in New Jersey, you have great options to pick from, no matter where you happen to live in the south or north of the state.

When skydiving New Jersey, though, you'll want to keep the following in mind for your safety and enjoyment. Your first choice if your New Jersey parachuting experience is your first, is to decide whether you want to do a tandem jump, a line jump, or an accompanied jump.

Tandem jumps may be your best bet when you first skydive in New Jersey, just because you, the beginner, has no responsibility. You can just sit back, figuratively speaking of course, and enjoy

your skydiving New Jersey experience as your tandem master worries about altitude and pulling the cord. The best thing about tandem skydiving, as well, is that you don't even know that the tandem master is attached to your back. You're too busy enjoying the freefall.

Serious skydivers can also consider taking skydiving lessons at a New Jersey location. Many places allow you to participate in the eight-jump skydiving student program offered by the United States Parachute Association, or you can choose to take skydiving lessons lesson by lesson.

Either way, be sure to call around at the following New Jersey skydiving locations or more information:

Freefall Adventures/Skydive Crosskeys is situated just outside of Philadelphia in southern New jersey. Located in Williamstown, it is considered one of the top skydiving schools in all of the

northeast.

Skydive Jersey Shore is up north toward New York and located on the picturesque Jersey shore. This skydiving center takes pride in catering toward first-time jumpers.

New York Skydiving School/Skydive Sussex is, you guessed it, located in Sussex near the Big Apple. It offers the unique experience of a first-jump altitude of 13,500 feet, which you won't find at too many other locations.

Skydiving In Spain

Learning to Skydive

The AFF course (Accelerated FreeFall) is the most modern way of learning to skydive, and is geared towards complete beginners who have no prior skydiving experience. Students work through eight different levels (each level is a skydive), and are able to learn to skydive with just a few days of instruction to become a qualified skydiver. Most people like to book about a week to complete their AFF course and ten solo skydives, although the AFF course is usually completed with three or four days- depending on how many skydives the student wishes to make per day!

The AFF System

The course starts with a ground school that usually takes about six hours long. This ground training is split into manageable lessons that cover everything the first time skydiver needs to know. When they are ready for their first skydive, AFF level 1, the student will be skydiving with two AFF instructors holding onto either side of them.

Throughout levels 1 to 3, the two instructors work on perfecting the student’s body position, teach the student how to turn left and right, altitude awareness and hover control (being able to fly without turning involuntarily left or right). When the student reaches AFF level 4, they will be skydiving with one AFF instructor and the subsequent AFF skydives will teach the student how to regain stability (being in a belly to earth position), turns and tracking (horizontal movement across the sky).

Before each skydive there is a detailed ‘brief’ that the instructor and student will spend time over, ensuring that the necessary skills are taught and learnt on the ground, ready to practice in the air on the skydive. On every AFF skydive the instructor wears a special camera helmet that holds a small, but powerful, video camera. After each skydive, the instructor will ‘debrief’ the student using this video that is an invaluable teaching tool. Once the student has completed their course, the videos of each skydive are compiled into a DVD, complete with titles and music to present to the student as a fun memento.

Do Static Line jumps count towards my AFF course?

Static line jumps are when the parachute is automatically opened when the skydiver exits the aircraft. This method of learning is slower than the AFF system, as more jumps are required to pass the course. However, if you have started learning to skydive on the static line system, you may be able to convert your training to the AFF system.

I’d like to try skydiving but I don’t want to do a full course – what are my options?

Of course you could try skydiving by doing the more traditional tandem skydive.

This is a parachute jump in which you are strapped onto a tandem instructor, and after a short brief, are ready to go!

However, now you also have the option of doing the AFF level 1, without needing to book onto the full AFF course.

This alternative really gives a more in depth introduction to skydiving. You would complete the ground part of the training, exactly as per the full AFF course – learning more about body position, equipment, canopy flight etc. Then, you would make you parachute jump with the two instructors holding onto you, before gently floating down to the ground, steering your own parachute and assisted by one of your instructors through a radio that you will be wearing. Should you decide that you would like to keep skydiving, you can then progress straight away to the second AFF level.

What are the benefits of skydiving in Spain?

Many people choose to come to Spain because of the fantastic weather – which means that they can skydive constantly throughout their trip.

The centre in Seville also boasts great non skydiving activities as well, whether you would like to go to the beach, discover the rich culture that the city has to offer, or explore the diverse bars and restaurants. The Cathedral of Seville is famed for being Spain’s largest church, and was built over 400 years ago. The streets of Seville are lined with orange trees, and in the evenings there is no better way to enjoy the city than sat outside a typical Spanish bar, with a cool drink, some Tapas, and the scent of the orange blossom. It’s a great place to explore by foot, along the cobbled streets – whether you are looking for souvenirs or just shopping.

For those that are interested in more of a lively evening, Seville’s bars and clubs have to be experienced! Whether you end up in Triana – a district of bars and clubs right next to the river, or the centre of Seville, it has to be said that the Spanish know how to have a good time!

The beach is only a 45 minute drive, and the most direct route also takes you through the National Park, where an abundance of wildlife can be found.

Skydiving in Spain is also much cheaper than learning in the UK, and this allows people to make the experience into more of a holiday. The cost of living in Spain is also much less than the UK, which makes it a pleasure to go out to eat when the average cost of a meal with drinks is only 15 euros!

Often, people like to take a day out to visit Cadiz, Huelva, or even Tarifa which is famous for being one of the best kitesurfing, windsurfing and surfing sites in Europe.

Who can I train with in Seville?

The parachute centre is a British Parachute Association (the governing body for skydiving and parachuting in the UK) Associated dropzone, so all operations are carried out to the highest safety standards. One of the most popular skydiving destinations for British jumpers, the aircraft here fly to 15,000ft, the highest altitude in Spain. What does this mean? Well, each skydive will have an extra 15 seconds of freefall time. This may not sound like very much, but on the AFF course, the freefall time is your main learning time. You will have more teaching time in the air, and therefore progress more quickly on each skydive. Over the whole AFF course, this equates to about 2 extra skydives!

How can I keep my friends and family updated on my skydiving progress and where can I find more information?

The internet is a great way of keeping your family and friends updated, and photos and news are posted on a daily basis on the Freefall Addicts website. [http://www.freefalladdicts.com/news.shtml] The Freefall Addicts forum is also filled with skydivers and would be skydivers, ready to offer advice, answer questions or just good luck wishes! Skydiving Facts - What to Expect

Skydiving is an activity that was created out of a necessity. If an aircraft got damaged during a flight, its passengers have no other option than to jump using a parachute. The first recorded instance of a successful parachute landing was in 1797, when Andre Jacques Farnerin boldly jumped out of a hot-air balloon and landed safely. The primary function of the parachutes was, and still is, to save the lives of air passengers in case of a plane crash. It was only later that parachuting was incarnated in the form of an adventurous hobby called skydiving.

Initially there were loud outcries about the safety of skydiving. The skydiving statistics and skydiving facts became the tools of anti-skydiving activists. But, soon it became clear that the safety procedures of skydiving and the quality of the skydiving gear are top class and accidents are rare. According to a recent study, the annual death toll in the United States due to this adventure sport is one in every 100000 jumps. If you compare this average with that of other normal activities like train or bus journeys - leave other adventure sports - you can find that the rate of fatality in skydiving is quite low.

There are some misconceptions about this sport. Most people believe that skydiving is the exclusive arena of the rich. It is only partially true. The skydiving gear and equipment are expensive no doubt about it, but there are organizations that conduct skydiving events for charity. These events are generally free. An interested person can participate in these events without spending any money. Another option is to find sponsors who are willing to provide finance for your skydiving venture for charity.

Another skydiving fact that wipes out a popular myth is that a person does not need to be completely healthy in all aspects to participate in a skydiving event. It is a popular belief that people who are affected with certain diseases like epilepsy cannot participate in skydiving. One needs to get a fitness certificate issued by a doctor. One is likely to get a fitness certificate even if one is affected with a mild form of a disease like epilepsy.

For those who are interested in quiz answers regarding skydiving there are a number of records. The most fascinating of these skydiving facts is that in 2006 in Thailand, 400 people from 312 countries jumped from about 23000 feet and formed a flower-like shape, which lasted for 80 seconds. The longest skydiving jump is one of the oldest records in skydiving. Joseph Kittinger jumped from an astonishing102800 feet above the earth. The jump lasted four minutes and a half. Although the governing authority of the sports disqualified this jump on technical grounds, this jump remains a high point in the history of skydiving.

9 Things to Expect When Doing a Tandem Skydive

A tandem skydive is when a skydiving instructor is connected by a harness to the skydiving student. This is so the instructor can instruct the student during the entire diving process. This is the most common training method used in skydiving because the expectations from the student are very minimal, making the student feel safer.

Before you begin a tandem skydive, you will notice that the equipment is different than that used in a traditional skydive. For instance, a drogue parachute is used, whereas a regular skydive does not require this parachute. This parachute will deploy shortly after leaving the plane in order to slow down velocity. The main parachute is also larger. It can range from 360 square feet and above. This is necessary because the parachute must support two people instead of one and, as usual, there is a reserve parachute as required by the FAA with an automatic activation device to deploy the parachute in case a skydiver is in a free fall below a specific altitude.

Here are 9 other things to expect when doing a tandem skydive:

1. Before you engage in a tandem skydive, you will need to sign a waiver form.

2. After meeting your instructor, you will then have to put on some gear. This gear includes a jumpsuit, goggles, and a harness. The harness is not usually used on solo skydives. The harness is specific to tandem sky diving. The instructor then outlines specific rules that include how to exit the plane and the proper body form when diving.

3. You will be taken to the desired elevation for a skydive. The plane's door may be open so that you can easily make the dive. You will need to jump at a specific time because the landing spot is specific. You can't jump too soon or too late. Expect this ride to last an average of 20 minutes and it will most likely be cold and loud.

4. You can also choose your jumping height, which is usually between 9,000 and 14,000 feet.

5. Expect the jump to be more of a roll than a jump. You and your instructor are sitting on the floor of the plane, so you will slowly inch toward the door until you are sitting on the edge. When it's time to execute your tandem sky dive, the two of you will roll out of the plane so that you can assume the diving position.

6. The instructor will tell you to arch your back, giving your body a banana shape. This allows you to keep your center of gravity. Your instructor will be attached to the back of you.

7. Tandem skydiving seems as if it doesn't take long. If you jump from 14,000 feet, you can expect the free fall to last 60 seconds. If you jump from 9,000 feet, you can expect the free fall to last less than 30 seconds. The conditions will be rather windy and you can expect to not be able to hear much of anything because the resistance of your body and the flapping of your jumpsuit means the conditions will be loud.

8. You will feel the tug of the parachute when it deploys. It may pull you up to a higher altitude as the air catches it. From there, parachuting to the ground is like riding on a swing. It is quiet and relaxing, so you and your instructor can then converse about the experience and the upcoming landing.

9. A few minutes after the parachute deploys, the instructor will tell you to pull up your legs so you can make your landing. Your landing will be a slide in the sand. It is gentle and you will be on your behind. Yes, you may see some divers land on their feet, but they may be more experienced divers. In this case, you are making a tandem sky dive, which means you will need to land the way your instructor tells you to in order to avoid injury for both of you.

There is a risk associated with a tandem skydive. If you are wondering about the risk, note that there are roughly 2 million skydives worldwide each year. Approximately 35 deaths occur annually. Some of these deaths are not always the jumps themselves, but the plane rides.

The most significant thing that you can expect is to have a lot of fun from the thrill that skydiving invokes. Sometimes, there is something to facing such risk that is exhilarating. Although it is good to assess the risk of a tandem skydive, it is important to understand that driving your car to work is also a risky activity. There are many safety precautions that have been put in place to make sure skydiving is an extremely enjoyable thrill ride.

Stewart Watson is an experienced writer that is also a massive fan of skydiving. He has enjoyed the extreme sport from the moment he took that first jump through to his many skydiving adventures across Australia. Stewart Watson thinks everyone can participate in skydiving and hopes that more people participate in the sport. If you are interested in a skydive or want to go tandem skydiving you should find out more today and before you know it you'll be ready to take the plunge.

What Is Extreme Skydiving?

Extreme Skydiving?

For the uninitiated, it may seem that skydiving does not need an adjective such as "extreme." Many people would ask, "Isn't skydiving always extreme?"

The answer from those experienced in parachuting, skydiving and extreme skydiving would be, "No." There is an important difference between skydiving and extreme skydiving, (Some have suggested that in extreme skydiving, the individual would not use a parachute. That would be extreme!) Rest assured, both continue to use parachutes.

What Is Extreme Then?

To put it quite simply, "regular" skydiving involves leaving the airplane, pulling the cord and descending slowly to earth. A short freefall may be involved in this version of the sport. The process of becoming an extreme skydiver passes through the "regular" skydiving phase. Some experienced skydivers have found that, after dozens of jumps, the activity can become a bit routine. While the general public might find it unusual that someone could jump from an airplane several thousand feet in the air and call it routine, it does happen.

For many skydivers, a next step might be to video the jumps, sometimes using two or more cameras to create videos that will be exciting and entertaining. Experienced skydivers have come up with a whole range of things to try during the minute or so of freefall before the parachute is opened. Most of these go far beyond the relative calm of video.

Team skydivers spend quite a bit of time designing patterns and movements that they can try during the freefall. Couples have planned their wedding to take place during this exciting minute. Another man actually had someone tattoo him while he was in freefall. These are just a few of the activities that have combined with skydiving to make the sport more extreme.

Fleafall

In spite of the awful play on words, this activity has become quite popular with skydiving dog lovers. According to the record books, a dachshund going by the name of Brutus holds the record for making the highest skydiving jump for a dog. He was securely strapped to his owner, who coined the term "fleafall." According to his owner and other witnesses, Brutus shows no sign of anxiety during the session. The canine has more than 100 jumps to his credit.

While extreme skydiving is not on the Olympic card yet (even as exhibition) it is popular worldwide. Apparently the powers that be have not seen enough to convince them that extreme skydiving is a world-class sport. But perhaps the time is coming.

Andrew Caxton is the editor of many articles on extreme skydiving published at [http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com] - More articles on Iowa skydiving [http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com/iowa-skydiving.html] and extreme sports at his web.

Teamwork - Skydivers Beautiful MUSEUM WRAP CANVAS Print with Added BRUSHSTROKES Unknown 28x22

Teamwork - Skydivers Beautiful MUSEUM WRAP CANVAS Print with Added BRUSHSTROKES Unknown 28x22Title: Teamwork - Skydivers. Artist: Unknown. Image Size: 23.17in. x 16.28in. Paper Size: 28.00in. x 22.00in. Beautiful MUSEUM WRAP CANVAS Print with Added BRUSHSTROKES

We have an unparalleled selection of both vintage and modern prints, posters, art prints, photographs and framed imagery. Orders are shipped to both domestic (US) and international locations.

The Canvas Transfer Process

Producing a canvas transfer is an intensely detailed process, which begins with an art print (ink on paper). Special chemicals are applied which, when dried, form a film that is meticulously separated from the paper and permanently embedded onto a high quality artist canvas. The canvas is then carefully stretched and wrapped around a sturdy, custom-cut inner support frame, called a "stretcher bar". Added brushstrokes are also carefully painted on to the canvas.

Ready to Hang "Museum Wrap"

Canvas is wrapped around the stretcher bars and stapled on the back. White canvas will show on the sides and no part of the image is lost during this wrapping process. The stretcher bar on the back of the canvas has a saw-tooth hanger, making it ready to hang on your wall. The canvas texture and non-reflective nature of a canvas transfer allows you to hang them under any lighting conditions. Differing from traditional paper art prints, a canvas transfer has a lifespan as long as any original painting or work of art. They can easily be dusted and cleaned with a damp cloth, giving years of use and enjoyment.

Easily Framed

Since there is no need to cover a canvas transfer with glass or to even mat these items, having your canvas transfer framed is easy and cost effective.

A Brief Overview On Skydiving Magazine

Skydiving Magazine was first published in 1979, it is the principal leader in skydiving news, training, and equipment. Unrivaled by competition, this magazine has survived the test of time, continuously providing up-to-date, unprecedented information to avid skydive fans, Boasting that it is a magazine "published by jumpers and for jumpers", this has become the handbook for skydiving safety and technique.

Often compared to Parachutist, the only other magazine for skydivers, Skydiving Magazine offers more regional news, safety and performance articles. Since Parachutist is published by United States Parachute Association (USPA), the agency which governs skydiving in the United States, it tends to focus more on USPA events and news, technical articles and regulations. Skydiving tends to cover competitions more fully and also provides information on non-regulation subjects. The coverage of nonconformist skydiving techniques has created a following of enthusiasts that enjoy other versions of this extreme sport.

One major advantage of Skydiving Magazine is it is the only widely distributed source of information on BASE jumping and BASE events as USPA does not recognize BASE jumping. BASE is an acronym for Building Antennae Span and Earth and represents fixed objects from which jumps are made. Because BASE jumping is very dangerous and often illegal, it is not only disparaged in general, but frowned upon by USPA. This makes Skydiving Magazine a leader in this area of the sport.

The primary distinguishing characteristic of Skydiving Magazine is its print style, Skydiving is printed on enlarged tabloid style paper with a non-slick finish. More like a newspaper than a magazine. Skydiving is often criticized as having inferior picture quality and inadequate color due to this type of printing. However, many prefer this style as it maintains a traditional design and because of its shorter production cycle remains the most current in news and equipment information. Either way, if the publishing style is objectionable, it is not apparent in the record number of magazines that are sold every month to ardent readers.

Regardless of your skydiving experience, novice or expert, Skydiving Magazine is a must for your library in order to stay abreast of the latest advancements in equipment, news, and the hottest gossip, you have to go to the authority in the sport, Skydiving Magazine is that authority.

The process of creating a laminate is lamination, which in common parlance refers to the placing of something between layers of plastic and applying heat or cold and/or pressure, usually with an adhesive. Proper laminating can prevent fading from sunlight or other bright lights, destructive Ultra-Violet rays, fingerprints and smudging from simple handling, pollutants, and even the vapors from smoke, cleaning solutions, and other harmful atmospheric elements. If you truly care about a piece of artwork, and choose not to frame it, the only real way to ensure its safety is to laminate the image.

Washington and His Colleagues

Washington and His ColleaguesWashington was glad to remain at Mount Vernon as long as possible after he had consented to serve as President, enjoying the life of a country gentleman, which was now much more suited to his taste than official employment. He was weary of public duties and the heavy demands upon his time which had left him with little leisure for his private life at home. His correspondence during this period gives ample evidence of his extreme reluctance to reassume public responsibilities.

The color black on a picture is notorious for absorbing any oily substance that your finger tips may have collected. Once the fingerprint is on, it is difficult to remove. I would suggest rubbing a soft cotton cloth of some sort in a slow circular manner. Don't rub too hard to prevent any scratches.
